Salvation Road
Everyone will have their salvation story and none are the same. We are all unique and I believe it is evident God chooses that specific time in our life when He’s ready to get our attention. this is his appointed time to reveal to us what our hearts already knew, but yet to be received.
Receive. It’s a funny little word filled with images of opening that perfect gift, being on the right side of someone’s generosity, or candor filled with love. Merriam-Webster defines it as “To come into possession of, Acquire.” and “To act as a receptacle or container.”
We start receiving the minute we are born into this world and continue to receive right up until the time we die, when again, our eternal spirits are received into heaven, or...there’s hell.
My entire life, there is not one time I can remember not believing in God the Father, and Jesus as the son of God. I have never not believed. However, there is a clear distinction, an engraved mark on my heart and in my mind of the day I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I went with my best friend and her family to a local revival. I was the ripe age of fifteen and the sermon was titled “The three deadlines of God”. It was a message derived from three inexcusable, unforgivable sins they proclaimed would cause sudden death. At fifteen, I was far too young to take that chance and agreed to go down and receive salvation. No fireworks went off, the sky didn’t open up with descending doves and nothing really felt different, but I had recited the prayer, confessed in front of everyone and there I was. Born again. Forever changed.
What changed? not a whole lot on the outside. I was still that same rambunctious teenager. Where the change started happening was on the inside. I now had the guidance of the Holy Spirit cheering me forward, leading me when I would pray. I now had the desire in my heart to know more about Jesus and made promises to read and be in the Word daily. I now had the promise and belief, without a shadow of a doubt, my life eternal would be at the feet of my Jesus.
Salvation was not a ticket to perfect for me, I assure you. It's the embarkment of a journey in becoming, changing, growing and learning. my life has been filled with seasons of ups and downs, a compilation of failures, faults and bad decisions. each time i find Jesus there in the dirt with me, lifting me up to try again, because that is how much He loves us. In Hebrews 13:5-6 it says “I will never leave you or forsake you” so we can confidently say; “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” The word “never” is a big word, and He has proven Himself over and over in my life.
If you are reading this today, you were not brought here by happenstance, it is a deliberate and God appointed time for you.
This is your divine appointment. Receive his love.
If you want to meet Jesus here, this is the Salvation Road:
At the cross is where Jesus fully paid for our sins with His blood. He proclaimed, “It is finished.”
It is His shed blood that brings us out of captivity and into the promises of God.
Romans 3:10 says; “There is none righteous, no, not one.”
Romans 5:8 says; “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:12 says; “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”
Romans 6:23 says; “For the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 10:9-10 says; “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 says; “WHOEVER calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:17 says; “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 11:36 says; “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”
It is simple really, and if God is calling you today, whether you’ve been a christian for some time or if you never have fully surrendered your life to Christ, please pray this prayer with me outloud;
“Father,
Please forgive me of my sins and help me turn in repentance and live the victorious life You have for me. I want what you have for me, Father. I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, that He died on the cavalry's cross for me and was raised to life on that glorious third day! come into my heart. I ask for you to lead me, direct me, guide me. I confess now Father, before men and Your angels that You are Lord of my life. Thank you Father, for Your forgiveness and the gift of salvation I receive now, in and through my Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen and hallelujah!”
Wow! If you prayed this prayer, know today is the best day of your life!
In the Bible every solution to life can be found. Now it’s time to get to know Jesus. Our first call to action is found in Romans 12. It’s an actual playbook of sorts of what those next steps should be. Please remember, growing and learning is a process and you have the best teacher in Christ Jesus and the living word of the Bible.
