Miraculous Wonders Everywhere

God’s miraculous wonders are everywhere!  But, we must be attentive to recognize them.  Our hearts must be poised towards heaven to be aware of God all around us.

Let’s consider the miracle of feeding the five thousand as accounted in Luke 9, verses 12 through 17.

“Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him, “Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.”  But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.”  For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”  And they did so, and had them all sit down.  And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.  And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.”

So in this text, is the recount of events of that entire day and how the disciples were so sure the five loaves and two fish would never be enough.  Isn’t that exactly how we are?

We look out on the lack, focus on what we don’t have and never stop to consider the possible miracle waiting just on the other side of a little faith.  What could happen if we placed what we do have in the hands of the miracle maker.

In verse 16 it reads, “Then He took the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven.”  He blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.  Here comes the GOOD part!  In verse 17 it says they all ate!  Every one of them ate and from the account told in Matthew of the same day, those five thousand all had their wives and children with them too, glory to God!  Whoa!  Don’t you know it left the disciples speechless, especially when He asked for them to gather up the leftovers!  Ha! Twelve baskets full!  Our God always provides exceedingly and abundantly!

I want to point out that the Word says; “Jesus looked up to Heaven…”  Church, we are looking for the miracle, stop looking down at what you have in front of you, stop looking over at what your neighbor has, stop scrolling InstaGram and Facebook stories looking at propped up lives that aren’t real and start looking up to heaven, just as Jesus did that day.  He knew where the abundance was coming from, the supply of more than enough.  He looked up to His Father, Jehovah Jireh to provide all they needed and in return, received more than enough, filled, running down and overflowing!

That same God that gave on that day is indeed the same God we serve today.  Philippians 4:19 “ And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” And what did He say?  Every need.

Ephesians 3:20; “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

Never doubt His love for you.  He will do miracles for you, just look up to heaven.  That same God that gave on that day to the crowd is the same God we serve today and He’s not running short on miracles.
