Bake the Cake

Throughout my life, there’s been moments I clearly heard the call of God to perform random acts of kindness, do something specific or speak words to someone.  Most I understood, but I have to be honest, some left me dumbfounded without any idea of the purpose or outcome.

If I had to describe what it’s like, I would say it’s a knowing an idea did not come from within. That still, small voice comes as a distinctly pointed instruction to move and do it now.

If I have learned anything, this I know.  Delay is not an option.

I recently responded to a call that I met with procrastination.

I said, “yes, Lord.”

However, I allowed my own personal distractions to interfere and completely talked myself out of fulfilling what I knew to be a clear and distinct instruction.

our loving father gently brought it back around to my attention and i quickly responded.

Here’s what I learned…

The longer you delay an act of obedience, the more challenges will be placed in the way of successfully accomplishing it.

When the call comes, God’s grace comes along with it.

When the call comes, provision comes along with it.

When the call comes, divine knowledge and full ability to succeed comes along with it.

Delay removes that… Delay creates obstacles.

In Deuteronomy 25:3 it says;

“When you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay to pay it, for it would be sin in you, and the Lord your God will surely require it of you. However, if you refrain from vowing, it would not be sin in you. You shall be careful to perform what goes out from your lips, just as you have voluntarily vowed to the Lord your God, what you have promised.”

I said I would, but I delayed.

I know we are not living under the law.

I know grace upon grace covers everything.

I know God is not mad at me.

If I never did another thing He calls me to do, I stand assured I would still walk through those gates of Heaven at the end of my life and He would greet me with arms wide open.

I want more.

I want the beautiful life Jesus suffered and died to give me.

I want to share the gospel and the wondrous joy found in healing humanity.

I asked God for that.

I prayed to be Jesus’ hands and feet and meant it.

I said “yes, lord.”

He is breathing a new wind and I am only the vessel.

It’s ALL about who He is.

It’s ALL about what He can do.

It’s ALL about His purpose.

Mark 16:15 says; “...Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

As far as the East is from the West and the North is from the South.

The direction of God is precise and to the point.

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Romans 10-13

We are all called to use what God has equipped us with.  Right in this place, right now, there is someone that needs to see Jesus in you.

There is someone on your path that needs to encounter the Father’s love through your act of kindness.

Jesus told the disciples to teach all the nations, all the world, all the things.

Did you know the Bible, just since the time of record keeping, has sold Five Billion copies?

Did you know the Bible is available in over Two Thousand languages?

This was accomplished because Jesus’ disciples did not delay.

So many countless lives transformed.

So many countless souls saved.

“Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God,” 2 Corinthians 3:4-5

I stand confident in the call.

I stand confident in the name of Jesus.

I stand confident in the transforming power of God.

I stand confident to say “Yes, Lord.”
